Institution Based Rehabilitation-IBR

Vikas Deepti is an institution for the rehabilitation of the differently abled children between the age of 5 and 14 years. It commenced its function from 29th June 1995. It has got 5 dormitories with the necessary beds, attached toilets and bathrooms, large corridors, dining space, TV room, study facilities, playground and play articles both outdoor and indoor etc.

At regular basis, the children are provided physiotherapy, corrective surgery and provision of aids and appliances like callipers, crutches and splints manufactured in the orthotic and prosthetic workshop of the institute. The inmates do their primary schooling in the integrated schools situated at a distance of 2 kilometres with the other children. The concern, care, and affection received in the institution bring spontaneous smiles to their lives and to their families. Many so far have been able to support themselves.

Our Approach

  • IBR: Education

    The children admitted at Vikas Deepti between 5 and 14 years of their age are given special attention in the form of tuition at the house prior to going to formal schools. The study materials like textbooks, notebooks and stationery items are made available along with necessary environment for their conducive study.

  • IBR: Physiotherapy

    Vikas Deepti provides physiotherapy on regular basis for the differently abled children after the assessment by the doctors and physiotherapists. It has got a unit of manual and electronic equipment for the same. Our trained physiotherapist along with the other staff of the institute engages regularly for this noble act. Along with the inmates, a few needy cases from outside are also attended with special care.

  • IBR: Surgery

    As per the assessment, needed cases are posted for surgeries in consultation with the parents. Catholic Mission Hospital, Bargarh is of great help for medical assistance. Quite many children who underwent surgery have shown improvement in their mobility and have been very cheerful.

  • IBR : Orthotic Workshop

    Providing aids and appliances is essential after the corrective surgeries. When this institution began to function, the aids and appliances were availed from Oltapur in Cuttak (430 kilometres). However, due to the immense difficulties faced, Vikas deepti has now set up a workshop of its own which provides the necessary equipment’s. At present there are three well trained technicians in the workshop.
